"Only" in Spain and "only" along 2011, 48 women has been victims of the so called "Gender Violence", which end up with their death. 48 women, many of whom had denunciate being mistreated, others didn't because they were probably too scared or had nowhere to go and some of which even had some restraining orders... all was useless. Today, in the Spanish Day Against Violence Toward Women, I encourage you to check around you and be conscious of what's going on, maybe you can help or support a friend in need, who could be being mistreated by her husband, fiancée or lover.
I wish in 2012 the number would become zero and the domestic violence become just a far away nightmare. Remember (being mistreated is not just being hit), your life can be different. Contact a women organization that could support you or support a friend if you may think she is in this situation. Together, we can make a difference.
